Flashback. 2005. Action!
The very first edition of Trolls & Légendes was held at the Imagix cinema in Mons. Its guest of honour was John Howe, an illustrator and concept artist whose work helped bring the world of The Lord of the Rings to life in Peter Jackson's films.
From early silent black-and-white films to today's films and series, cinema has always taken us to other worlds. We grow attached to characters, explore their stories and sometimes wish we could return to those worlds long after the closing credits.
Worlds that come together
At Trolls & Légendes, cinema connects naturally with the festival's other sections: adaptations of novels and comics, video games, fantasy series and film scores. You can move from one imaginary universe to another throughout the festival.
One memorable example is Clive Standen, known for his role in Vikings, joining Wardruna on the concert stage after spending the day signing autographs. The band had composed music for the series.
Guests and encounters
Over the years, the Cinema section has welcomed film and television actors, French-speaking performers and voice actors. Graham McTavish, Natalia Tena, Kevin Sorbo, Brigitte Lecordier and members of the Kaamelott cast are among the guests who have met festival visitors.
What makes this section special is the time you get to spend with the guests. During an autograph session or a photo opportunity, you can talk to them about their work and the characters you love. These conversations take place in the festival's friendly atmosphere, and some artists return from one edition to the next.
Encounters on the programme for 2027
Once again this year, the Cinema section will offer autograph sessions, professional photo sessions, selfies and Meet & Greets with the attending actors. Conferences and talks will also be part of the programme.
Guest names, timetables, possible fees and the specific rules for each activity will be announced progressively. Autograph sessions may be free or paid, depending on the guest.
How do you get activity tickets?
Tickets for Cinema section activities are separate from festival admission. They are available from the Cinema section ticket desk, starting 30 minutes before each scheduled time slot. A ticket is required for autograph sessions, even free ones, as well as for professional photo sessions, selfies and Meet & Greets.
Each festivalgoer must collect their own tickets. During a single visit to the desk, you may obtain one ticket for each of several different guests, but not multiple tickets for the same guest in the same time slot. If you wish to obtain another ticket for that guest, you must queue again, subject to availability.
Conferences are free and require only a valid festival admission ticket; no separate activity ticket is needed. Entry remains subject to available seating.
Guest pages may specify additional conditions, such as the maximum number of autographs per visit, schedules and possible fees. All tickets and places are subject to availability.
