Editions Hikaya - Aventures de la Mer et du Trésor

Hikaya collects and resonates with words from elsewhere. Its name - which means "story" - reflects its ambition: to offer a bridge to the imaginations of the world, carried by authors who fascinate us and who, we hope, will take you on a journey far beyond the usual boundaries of the genre.

The project revolves around two complementary axes. The first, the beating heart of the structure, is publishing. Hikaya is primarily an independent publishing house, driven by the desire to discover, translate, and make known singular voices from the international imagination. Each work is conceived as an invitation to escape, to encounter other sensibilities, other mythologies, other ways of telling the world.

The second axis, inseparable from the first, is a strong commitment to literary diversity in the imaginations of literature. Hikaya does not merely publish texts: it actively works to broaden the perspective on the genre. Its ambition is to promote dialogue around imaginations from countries, linguistic spaces, and cultures that are still too underrepresented in Francophone publishing.

This commitment is reflected in the organization and participation in conferences, meetings, and partnerships, as well as in raising awareness and providing advice to other publishing houses eager to embark on the demanding and exciting adventure of translating rare languages. Convinced that the richness of the imagination is nourished by plurality, Hikaya advocates the idea that each language carries within it worlds to explore.

Through its publications and actions, Hikaya thus builds a space for discovery, transmission, and exchange, where the diversity of voices becomes a strength and an infinite source of wonder.
