Biography & background
Vincenzo Cucca is another representative of this new wave of Italian artists who are versatile and comfortable in all styles. Graduating from the Italian School of Comix in Naples in 1995, he quickly started his career, before proving his eclecticism by becoming a figurine sculptor for the American comic book publisher Crossgen. Back in Europe, he alternates between covers and pages for various publishers, from literature to comics. He takes his first step into Franco-Belgian comics by participating in the Greenpeace collective - Drawings for the Climate, but it will take Route des maisons rouges and then Maat for him to fully showcase his talent, in a style that beautifully blends manga, comics, and Franco-Belgian influences. This genre makes him more than legitimate to teach dynamism and anatomy at the International School of Comics in Florence, while still occasionally sculpting and drawing Le Maître des ogres, based on a script by Michel Rodrigue. He is invited to Trolls & Légendes for his work on the series Colonisation published by Glénat.
Originally from Naples, Vincenzo Cucca has established himself as an emblematic illustrator of the new Italian wave, particularly recognized for his great stylistic versatility. After graduating from art school, he began his career in advertising as early as 1995, before turning to his true passion: graphic storytelling.
His international journey reflects a rare adaptability across different global markets. In the world of comics, he notably collaborated with the prestigious Marvel house by illustrating four issues of the series She-Hulk. At the same time, he has firmly established himself in Franco-Belgian comics by working with renowned publishers. He is responsible for the drawings of the title Le Maître des Ogres at Le Lombard, based on a script by Michel Rodrigue, as well as the series Pandamonia and Hot Charlotte published by Glénat.
More recently, he has put his talent to the service of science fiction by providing the artwork for the saga Colonisation, which will total 10 volumes by 2026. Vincenzo Cucca's style is defined by a perfect balance between technical rigor and dynamism. His line, precise and expressive, allows him to excel in both intense action scenes and highly stylized "pin-up" illustrations, confirming his status as a complete artist capable of navigating between all genres.
Focus on Colonisation
How long can humanity survive?
This is the question of this adventure in the future.
To face an unmanageable overpopulation, humanity sends a multitude of spaceships across the galaxy. On board, crews of colonists aim to ensure humanity's survival elsewhere. Some time after the launch of this exodus, an extraterrestrial civilization manifests: the Atils. Peaceful and benevolent, they share their far more advanced transportation technology with humans and allow them to settle with them on a number of other worlds. Many of the first ships remain unfound, lost in the vastness of space.
As time passes, cohabitation with the Atils proves to be not to everyone's liking. Some representatives of both peoples eventually gather, even attempting to capture the ships of the first stranded colonists in the universe to sell their contents at a high price on the black market. They are called the Scavengers. It is to find the ships of the first colonists and oppose these new extremists that the agency forms its elite units, in which Milla Aygon has enlisted. But when she and her team rescue Officer Clarence Sternis, a first-generation colonist, none of them imagine that their mission could very well change the fate of two civilizations...
