Biography & background

Philippe Cardona, born on June 9, 1978, in Marseille, is a comic book author, illustrator, and screenwriter, considered one of the pioneers of manfra. Influenced by the "Albator generation," he nurtured his passion for Japanese animation from high school before co-founding the fanzine Dream On in 1997 during his studies in Aix-en-Provence. It was during this period that he sealed his historic collaboration with the screenwriter and colorist Florence Torta.

His professional career takes off with Cœur de Xatim (2000), but it is the adventure Sentai School (2003), a cult parody of the genre's codes originally published in the magazine Coyote Mag, that firmly establishes him in the comic book landscape. Recognized for his graphic dynamism, he becomes a pillar of the Soleil and Delcourt editions, notably by adapting the phenomenon Noob as well as its spin-off series, Le Blog de Gaea. He has also lent his talent to major youth licenses such as Foot 2 rue and the series Les Légendaires - Missions.

Today, Philippe Cardona's news is focused on a highly anticipated science fiction project at Dupuis: Starlight. This new series, for which he is responsible for the script and the artwork, will follow the galactic adventures of the inventor Cyrius and the alien Chantilly.
