Laurent KLOETZER - Noon : Le Destructeur des Cieux

Laurent Kloetzer has multiple facets. Author, engineer, consultant, and doctor in psychology, L. L. Kloetzer (for Laure and Laurent) appeared on the literary scene with Cleer (Denoël, 2010), chronicles of a totalitarian multinational (Planète SF 2011 bloggers' prize). His novel Anamnèse de Lady Star (2013) is a grand science fiction narrative that, while never forgetting the sense of wonder, questions our relationship with history, memory, and speech. He received the Grand Prix de l'Imaginaire, the Lundi prize, and the Rosny Aîné prize in 2014. He is invited to Trolls & Légendes for his fantasy novels, presenting the adventures of NOON.

It features: high-level sorcery, prophetic dreams, and a few skirmishes: the winning recipe for an excellent reading moment. With a plot written in a vibrant style, L.L. Kloetzer stages endearing and colorful characters. This is what I could say about this fantasy saga that has become essential in the shelves and our TBRs.

It was therefore obvious that its author had to be present for the release of the third adventure of Noon! You will find him accompanied by the illustrator Nicolas Frustus, who has pleasantly paced the narration.

Still hesitating? Here's a little introduction to the story:

It takes place in the largest city of the known world. The City of the black toga, the City of a thousand smokes, give it whatever name you want, you have already been there, you will return. Overlooked by the palace of the Suzerain and the temples of the avenue of gods, both a maritime and river port, it teems with merchants, priests, and thieves. One can smell the scents of distant lands and the stench of misery. It is here that Yors was born, it is here that he survives, an old mercenary who has become somewhat of a philosopher through the force of age and circumstances. But wisdom does not feed a man, and Yors has not a penny to his name when our story begins. By chance, he will put himself in the service of a young man, a stranger come to do business in the city. Not just any business: sorcery. Everyone knows that sorcerers are dishonest scoundrels, sellers of curses, potion makers with dirty fingers... Courteous, a bit naive, certain of being the best in his field. His name is Noon, and his emblem is a black sun...

The atypical magic of this universe and its singular characters earned him a selection for the Trolls d'or in 2023 for Noon du Soleil and in 2026 for Noon Le Désert des cieux.

If you have not yet discovered the NOON universe, it is time for you to meet the authors.

Don't miss Laurent Kloetzer, he will be present only on Saturday!
