It all begins in Marseille in 1850. Pytha is a young beggar left to her own devices. She can rely on nothing but her intelligence until the day a dying old madwoman bequeaths her a mysterious oracle... Quickly, Py discovers a wonderful power: reading the cards while passing into another world where she sees shapes dancing and evolving amidst the mists. But the old woman warned her: the cards will attract greed, and malicious people will try to seize them.
Indeed, Py is soon kidnapped by Bishop Guibert, a religious man obsessed with occultism. However, while their relationship begins in hatred, they gradually tame each other. Despite this strange budding friendship, Py decides to continue her quest towards the mysterious woman in the turban who appears in her future. From Viviers to Paris, passing through Lyon, Py embraces her future by using the cards to guide her path. But one must also interpret the omens correctly and beware of chance, which loves nothing more than to disrupt fate...
